Hi, everyone. Welcome back to Generation in Between. My name is Danny. Hi, I'm Katie. Had to think about that for a second. You were like, my name is something. Um, okay, so we have a little tiny break from our Xennial Girls Summer series, kind of. Because what this is is a prep for our live event just to um get our brains warmed up before we are competing against our audience. Oh God. This is uh we're going to have our live event on July 3rd, Friday, July 3rd, the day before July 4th. So it's perfect because hopefully people are off work the next day. And it's a Friday night. So let's go. We're gonna have a live episode recording, which who knows what bullshit's gonna happen there because shenanigans happen when it's just us in the studio. So when we are live and people are watching us, it's gonna be wild. The good news is will your husband be there in case we have an emergency? Oh, yeah. Great. Yeah, I'll bring him along. Yes. Uh, but we're gonna play trivia. Uh, we're gonna have audience participation, we'll just do some chit-chatting. Uh, maybe, oh my God, you know what I've always wanted to do? What? Katie's nervous. You know what they're well, because like right now in comedy, like the trend is like you're you don't like have a have a um like set. I can't think of it now. Oh, well, this is the tree versus how our life goes. To be honest, we've had to recall a lot of information today, and my brain is not not having it anymore.

Also, fun fact, there has been a lot of research. Well, a lot of things I see in my algorithm have to do with exercise research because it's my job. And I will say, there's been a lot more research lately since we're speaking on this, that taking any kind of class like dance or a fitness class where you're counting and doing things has been now proven to help prevent dementia uh because you're using pieces of your brain that you don't use in real life. So if you've been wondering about whether you should take an adult dance class, go do it because it will help your cognitive and and I was saying that to an older lady in my class who comes to all my classes, she's amazing. And um we were in my musical theater fitness class, and I said, Oh yeah, y'all, y'all know like there's been a lot of research lately that's saying like taking a dance class or a dance fitness class really helps your cognitive function. She said, You know, I'm starting to remember things better. Wow, that's anecdotal. And I love it. And not she meant in the class too, but I write. But so there's a learning curve for that. But that is a I mean, if you're able to start remembering things better, I mean I've seen I've seen that in myself when I go to a dance audition. It's much easier now for me to catch on than it was three years ago. Because I'm doing it every day now. And you're you all you kind of re-unlock that. I think too, as you get older, obviously your body gets older. So things aren't as sharp as they were, but also we do get very settled and into our routine. And our brains are amazing because they're able to kind of do a lot of things for us. But it takes doing something outside that to wake up these parts of your brain. It's funny, I was just so we are renting a Jeep right now because um my son was in an accident, he's okay, but he can't drive the rental car, yada yada. So I've been driving the Jeep and I've always wanted a Jeep, so it's been kind of fun, right? Even though I have to give it back. But my husband and I were talking, and I said, the only thing about this Jeep is that it's too new. Like I really want like an older Jeep. Oh, you know, like a retro Jeep. Yeah, like it feels like the inside of my minivan in there. It drives different, it drives like a Jeep, yeah, I get that. Which I love. Yeah. But I was like, it's it's just looks like any modern car, and I want it to not look like that. And Brant's like, well, maybe you could look at, you know, one day when you want to get one. He's like, but you gotta be careful because like what if you end up with a manual? Like, you know, you don't want to get a manual one. And I was like, maybe I should learn this drive stick. Like, maybe that would be really good for me to like learn something new. Stressful. Yeah, stressful. So he was like, ah, maybe something else, Katie. Like I'm not really gonna say much because this is not actually happening right now. So I'm just gonna save my breath. But like, but it was kind of that same thing where like lately I've been like, no, I should try this thing or that thing, or I should do this thing I haven't done before because it is really good for us to learn stuff. And I'm thankful that I'm around music a lot, which is also super helpful. But even then I get in my routines of like what I'm playing with my students, and then like certain kinds of songs, and even the songs that I sing are the same songs. So trying to kind of expand beyond that. Like, I've been like, oh, I should like I know people who play the guitar, and I literally have guitars at my studio. I should learn to play the guitar. I know. Again, it's a time constraint. Well, no, but I know what you mean. But like those types of things, like, well, why aren't I learning that thing? Yeah, even a little bit of it, you know. Helps your brain, guys. Helps your brain. But I am going to your fitness classes, so at least you are. I am. So there you go.
